Drive from Chandigarh from Manali is itself a beautiful experience, the road is surrounded by mountains and scenic beauty. After traveling first few hundred kilometers the road runs along the river Beas and unlikely any other country, you can make a stop by road sided and walks down to the flowing water and sit and relax. You will be seeing a lot of restaurants opened next to the flowing water for travelers to stop and relax.

First stop being Manali I would suggest you stay somewhere near to Rohtang Pass, preferably Kothi (name of the place) to avoid the early morning traffic next day.

If you haven’t been to Rohtang Pass before you can stop by the on your second day for breakfast.

You should make your next stop at Sarchu or Pang which ever suits you as it takes 2 days to travel from Manali to Leh. Both spots have camping facilities available for tourists starting from Rs.1200 to Rs.2400 for a shelter for two, there are bonfires at night and food available on order. An amazing experience if you like camping under a sky full of stars and mountains all around you.
